12/13/2003 I still don't really have any new photos to put up so I stole a couple off the bssf website (see below.) The first one is of my maple. If you go to the 1/31/2003 entry you can see what it looked like at this time last year. I'm pretty happy with the difference, although you might not notice much. The second is a blue oak seedling that I dug out of my cousin's yard in Sacramento. I thought that it would probably die when all but ne leaf fell off...but then it sent out a new little shoot and now I know that it will survive. The third is a tiny little pot filled with moss and a succulent groundcover that I got from a nursery.

I finished the trim for the kitchen window and I finally did the last section of the deck railing. I'll put a photo up as soon as it stops raining. Until then I hope that everyone is enjoying the holidays.

Scott was in town for the past week and I had the pleasure of drinking a little too much with him a couple times. I find that once I have more than two drinks that I am in for a hell of a hangover. We started the first night with a beer each before I got the crazy idea to mix up some Long Island Iced Teas. That was a mistake; I had a headache and slight nausea for at least the whole next day. Scott has a tendancy to bring out the worst in me when it comes to drinking...I'm lucky that he spends most of the year safely on the other side of the country.

12/8/2003 If you are interested, I took some photos of my bonsai trees and posted them on the BSSF site click here. I've been paying more attention to things that are not the house in the last few weeks. For some reason I have been reluctant to finish things around here. It's kinda' frustrating in a couple ways. One: I want the house to be finished; two: I don't seem to be interested in doing a lot of the remaining work. But after it all Dory keeps me motivated and I get at least a little done every week. Last week I managed to do one side of the railing for the stairs off the back deck. Maybe I can do the other half today. Some of the things that are left to do have been left because I can't quite figure out how to do them. The electrician who hooked up the meter and the main circuit panel told me how to do the grounding electrodes for the house but that was a few months ago and I can't quite remember what he said. It's easy enough to find out but I have to call the building department...and I don't really like them so it's one of those things that I find myself putting off.

The main stairway inside is still unfinished. I have put two coats of mud on the drywall, but I haven't started putting the finished treads and risers on yet because I can't quite figure out what I want it to look like.
