11/3/2004 I haven't made it a habit to express my political or idealogical views on this blog but since it is all that I can think about on this morning after the presidential election I have to do so. I have strongly felt ever since George Bush was installed in the White House by the Supreme Court in 2000 that he is an idiot and the worst thing that I have ever seen happen to this country. I am astouded that the Democrats can't seem to run a successful election to save the country from moral and international shame. It makes no sense to me to reelect a president based on his values when his values are the very thing that have taken the country to war. Let's not forget that George Bush has lied to the American people and everyone in the world to further his Christian driven agenda in the Middle East.
Not being a particularly religious person I can't understand the motivations that come from following Catholic or other Christian teachings. I feel that religion is a way of teaching people the difference from right and wrong...and Christians are getting it wrong themselves right now.
Before the election happened I was having a great weekend. On Monday I went hiking in Marin with Romeo. We went to a place called Mt. Burdell, which is a nice hilly, oak woodland area. We hiked for about three hours and then came back home. I made some bread and soup for dinner. Then on Tuesday I went over to my friend Tim's house to help him out with some bonsai stuff. We both expressed anxiety over the election and hope that Bush would be ousted from the Oval Office. While I was standing in line to vote the woman who gave the puppy training courses which we took Romeo to was standing in front of me. Her husband who is from Australia was surprised that people were willing to wait so long...and my explanation to him was that if George Bush were the prime minister of Australia he would want to vote agaist him too. A few people had a laugh at that. But there's no laughing now as Bush will have four more years to increase government secrecy, cronyism, destroy environmental regulations in favor of business and go on warmongering and profiteering from his warmongering. All this because for one reason of another the Democrats cant get things done. As my pumpkin warns, watch out! Because this country is going the wrong direction along with all the Christians.
