10/2/2004 Phutu might be on hold for a couple weeks. But since I don't write much more than once per month anyway you probably wont notice. I had to send my camera into Canon for repair. It's really been annoying me lately, it always focuses a few feet behind the subject that I am trying to take a photo of. I started manually focusing everything but that doesn't work for horseracing where they are moving quickly. It will unfortunately be costing me a bit of money...
I have spent the last few weekends working on the house. I hope that Dory will finally leave me alone if I manage to finish all the trim work on the inside of the house; then I can throw myself fully into pursuing bonasi creation. I built a couple cabinets that are now installed at the base of the stairs, but I have another cabinet to do before I can call that area finished. I also have the trim that goes along the side of the stairs to do. When I originally installed the stairs I didn't realize that the trim on the side was supposed to be put in before the rest of the stair parts...so now I have to figure out a way to put the trim on in a way that no carpenter would. My brother keeps pestering me to put some finish over the metal railing; I had been planning to paint it but I think now that it would look cooler with a clear coat of finish so that you can see the metal. He doesn't like it as is because when you touch it it makes your hand smell like rust. I don't really care as much as he does but I do agree that it eventually needs to be covered.
Speaking of Brian, he is moving into his new apartment this weekend, which means that I get to clean out the front bedroom and repaint the walls. Dory and I agree that we made a mistake in the color that we initially chose for that room. While I am in there I guess that I will be putting in a couple pieces of trim that have been missing since we refinished the floors. The walls of the room had been covered with sheetrock that was over some nice looking slat boards so we removed the sheetrock...it looks better but there are a couple spots that I never took care of that need to be covered with trim. We have decided that we are going to move our bedroom into the front and make the rear bedroom for the baby and accesories. The whole thing has made me consider the closet situation as well. The closets are poorly designed and I think that I could significantly improve them...but it's another project to take on when I haven't finished the ones that I have already started.
As you can see Dory has been playing softball. The league is over now, I took this photo a few weeks ago during the last game that she played in. Romi was looking quite hot when I took the photo of him on a dirt road in Marin. I went hiking up there a few weeks ago, but it was so hot that I had to cut the hike short to get water for Romi. The other dog is Jackson who belongs to my neighbor Shane.
