10/13/2003 This will have to be a short entry as I am trying to get out the door to go up to my mother's house for the day. When we moved out here from New York I packed everything into boxes and shipped it to here house via UPS. For some reason I packed my friend Scott's diploma from Cornell in with my own and it has been sitting in my mother's attic ever since. So I thought I would use that as an excuse to go up there to visit her and then do a little hiking.
My Brother has left and gone back down to LA for a while. He had a job at a restaurant that he could go back to so that he could make some money before he heads back to Utah for the winter. Before he left I managed to convince him to help me paint the back of my house. We got all the new siding up and then spent a couple days puttying and cleaning and scraping the siding and making sure that the new corners of the building were all sealed up from water penetration. Then it took us three days of work to prime and topcoat the entire side of the building. I borrowed a long extension ladder from me neighbor Shane to get to the upper half; I must say that I discovered in myself a bit of a fear of heights. It wasn't so much being so high as it was that the ladder was so bouncy. As you walk up it with a paint bucket in one hand and the brush clamped in your mouth you feel like you're on that rope bridge at the end or Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. This thing was really traveling around. But in the end all went smoothly and the house is painted. I still have some little bits to do on the trim but for the most part it is finished.
