4/5/2005 Now that I have such a great photo subject I guess that I will be able to put up more entries on the site. I was telling Kevin Schultz as much during the ceremony that we had for Bryce on Sunday; I can always find something to complain about, but getting cool photos together can really delay the new editions.

Last night I tied up the plastic bag that lines the diaper hamper and hauled it downstairs to leave on the front porch. The instructions on the bag say "leave outside the night before, if it is safe" (among other things) Dory and I are using a cloth diaper service for Bryce; the hamper was completely full and we were down to two clean diapers before they dropped off more this morning. I thought that I was an earlybird, but when I opened the door at about 6am they were already there. Still, I don't quite understand what danger a bunch of dirty diapers could be in even in the worst part of East St. Louis...

I spent much of the day today working on "photo research." It is freelance work for Dory's company involving finding photos on the web for use in the textbooks and securing permission for their use. I was surprised to find that for 15 photos is took me more than ten hours to put together a good selection. Since it is official, I should mention that I have finally quit my job at the racetrack. Bill and I decided that after six years we would both be better off going in a different direction, me doing photo research and taking care of Bryce and him finding someone who might actually have a fresh perspective on horse racing. My last day will be May 22nd...after which I believe Dory, Bryce and I will be traveling to the Detroit area to visit with Dory's family.

I mentioned previously that I had collected a pine cone on one of my hikes and planted the seeds from it. As of this moment I only have two seedlings, but I am hoping that of the fifty-ish seeds I planted I will get a few more.

I was sitting on the couch a couple nights ago thinking about trees and babies and started sketching a great explanation to give to children about where babies come from...large acorns. hehe. I guess that's what you get when you are obsessed with trees and have a baby in the house.
