2/5/2005 Well, it's been a long while since I wrote anything for the site. I see that the intervals between entries over the years become longer and longer...I just haven't had any really interesting photos to put up lately. I did manage to sell my car on new years day. Dory left for a week after that for here sales meeting. We bought a used Subaru Outback when she returned. She said that we finally have a "grown-up" car. We had a baby shower in the middle of January; there were so many people in the livingroom and kitchen of my house that I couldn't walk around and I was a little nervous about the structure of the house (although probably without reason.)

I've been doing work on the house and helping my neighbor Shane with the house that he bought. I have also been doing a fair bit of bonsai work. Many of my trees have been repotted into new containers as the weather warms up. I find it very satisfying to see trees that I dug out of the ground two or three years ago finally going into real bonsai containers and looking like little trees. I keep planting trees that are too little for training in the front yard and have run out of room so I am now planting acorns and little oaks in the back yard. Unfortunately, I went out the other day to find that Romeo had ripped one of them up and chewed it into bits...but it was only a seedling.

The day before the baby shower happened we had a little burglary here on Wright St. I had previously had someone steal my mountain bike and a couple power tools out of the garage...but I didn't know when of how it had happened. Since I noticed I changed the lock on the door and tried to keep it locked...but the door jam was broken and it couldn't lock properly. In any case, Shane caught a guy coming out of my basement with my brother's mountain bike and two other power tools in hand. He tried to catch him but the guy rode off on the bike. He called the police who apprehended him only a couple minutes later. I had to leave work early to go to the police station and retrieve the stuff. I was a little alarmed to hear that our burglar is facing ten years in prison, but in the end I can't blame myself for his probably repetative burgling. I have since rebuilt the entire door so that it can be properly locked, reinforcing the jam and the door with metal so that they can't be kicked in. I suspect that someone kicked them in before I bought the house causing it to be unlockable. Now someone has to go through a locked gate (or over the neighbors wall) and then kick down a reinforced door to get in...alternatively, they could just break the window at the front...although I put up a blind thinking that "out of sight out of mind" is a good deterent.

Dory and I got a some new carpets and a new dresser in preparation for the baby. I took a photo of the carpet to show people, but most people saw it during the shower. The baby's room is almost finished. We placed all the clothing that we got at the shower in the dresser that I bought off craigslist. There are still a couple boxes up there which Dory has been bugging me to open.
